The situation
Students looking for internships and organisations offering them could not find each other.
Opportunities lived on notice boards, in forwarded messages and inside personal networks, so they went to whoever happened to be standing nearby. For everyone else, the doorway simply didn't exist.
The approach
A two-sided platform only works if both sides find it easier than what they did before. Listing an internship became a short form, not a procurement exercise. Applying became a legible process with a visible status, not an email into the void.
For the programme itself, the whole pipeline had to be observable: which organisations are listing, which students are applying, and where applications stall.
What we built
- Internship listings with structured roles, durations and eligibility.
- Student profiles and applications with a status the applicant can actually see.
- Review and shortlisting workflows for host organisations.
- An administrative console over the full pipeline for the programme's coordinators.
The outcome
IGNITE, the Government of Kerala's statewide internship initiative, gave internship activity one address. Students apply in the open, organisations review in one place, and coordinators see the whole picture.
The platform shipped, and the doorway it built is the kind that stays open.
