The situation

Kerala's largest agri hackathon needed registrations, teams, submissions and judging to run on rails.

A hackathon compresses months of event logistics into days: open registrations, team formation, challenge tracks, deadline-driven submissions, and judging that must be fast and defensible. If the platform stumbles, the event stumbles in public.

The approach

Event technology is deadline engineering. Everything on the participant side had to be obvious to a first-time user on a phone. Everything on the judging side had to make evaluation quick and consistent across panels.

We had run this race before. Bytekat has been media and technology partner to national hackathons including the Smart India Hackathon and the Singapore-India Hackathon, and VAIGA inherited that playbook.

What we built

  • Registration and team formation, sized for a statewide open call.
  • A problem-statement catalogue participants could browse and claim.
  • A submission pipeline with hard deadlines and clean version handling.
  • Judging and scoring workflows built for multiple panels moving quickly.

The outcome

VAIGA Agri Hack ran on the platform from signup through judging, for the state's Department of Agriculture Development and Farmers' Welfare.

The same event stack went on to carry job fairs and national hackathons. Every event it survived made it harder to break.
